Stay Current with Coalition Initiatives
Summary: Stay up-to-date on the latest climate news
Description
Joining Energize Acton is a great way to keep track of personal actions to reduce your climate impact. If you would like to do more with volunteers from the community, you can stay in touch with the Acton Climate Coalition (ACC). The ACC is a grassroots environmental organization that works to advocate for local, state, and federal policies "that can make it easier for the entire community to reduce our climate impact."
Acton Town Meeting (in September 2020) passed by a nearly unanimous vote a resolution Declaring a Climate Emergency: A Better Future Starting Now. The Declaration included calling on “state and federal elected officials to . . . provide appropriate legislative, regulatory, and financial support to municipalities.”
If you would like to learn more, you can sign up for action alerts with the ACC (see the Steps tab).

Steps to Take
1. Visit Acton Climate Coalition if you would like to receive action alerts on local and/or state policy. Some alerts may include updates to keep track of the latest news on sustainability in Acton.
2. Familiarize yourselves with our state-level elected officials — State Senator Jamie Eldridge and State Representatives Simon Cataldo or Dan Sena; likewise, get to know members of the Acton Select Board and Green Advisory Board. These officials have important roles in the future of the community, and in climate action.
3. Start an environmental book club or join an environmental organization, such as the ones listed at the Acton Climate Coalition website.
